Healthcare Safeware® Privacy Statement

Protecting your private information is our priority at HB Healthcare Safety, SBC (HBHS). This Statement of Privacy applies to the Safety Learning System® and HB Healthcare Safety, SBC and SLS governs data collection and usage. The SLS web-based system is intended as a learning registry system used by organizations under a Master Services Agreement.

HBHS Products and SLS Software as a Service are offered to and designed primarily for use by organizations. In the event of a conflict between this SLS privacy statement and the terms of any agreement(s) between a customer and HB Healthcare Safety, SBC and Safety Learning System® Products, the terms of those agreement(s) will control.

Rather than residing as a static software program on your device, the Safety Learning System® products are cloud-based, and are updated regularly, providing you with the latest improvements and features. Your organization may use centralized management tools provided by SLS to access and process your data and to control security settings (including privacy settings), software updates, data collection by us or the organization, or other aspects of your usage of SLS. Additionally, your organization may use management tools provided by SLS or others to access and process your data from that device, including your interaction data, diagnostic data, and the contents of your learning case study documentation and files.

User privacy is important to us. By using the SLS site, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

When a customer purchases, uses, or subscribes to HB Healthcare Safety, SBC and Safety Learning System® ProductsHBHS receives data from the Organization and collects data to provide the service (including contact data of the customer’s designated point of contact(s), User name, email address, institutional affiliation, and job role).  

We do not collect any additional personal information about you unless you voluntarily provide it to us. These may include: (a) registering for an event; or (b) sending us an email message. To wit, we will use your information for, but not limited to, communicating with you in relation to services and/or products you have requested from us.  

We also use common Internet technologies, like cookies, to enhance your experience and manage our website services and email programs. Cookies store small amounts of information about how you use our SLS web-based products, for example: 

  • What pages you view 
  • The date and time of your visits 
  • The amount of time you spend on our site 

All the cookies are 1st party: a) Strictly Necessary Cookies that persist the user’s session through requests and tab. Used to keep the user logged in and identify them, b) Performance Cookies used to track and log a user’s movements through SLS, c) Functional Cookies used for the messaging functionality. 

Cookies are used solely for tracking purposes and do not store personal information. The information we gather from Internet technologies, like cookies, is collected to give you the best possible online experience every time you visit our site. 

During your visit to our site you may click on a link that takes you away from SLS. We provide these links to direct you to interesting and relevant content. However, because we have no control over these sites, we have no responsibility for the protection and privacy of information you provide while visiting these sites. 

HBHS does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, and trusted affiliates for the purposes outlined above. 

HBHS may disclose your personal information, without notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on HBHS or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of HBHS; and/or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of HBHS, or the public.  

We employ other companies and people to perform tasks on our behalf and need to share your information with them to provide products or services to you. Unless we tell you differently, our agents do not have any right to use the Personal Information we share with them beyond what is necessary to assist us. 

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site. 

HBHS secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. HBHS uses the following methods for this purpose:  

When personal information (such as name & email) is transmitted to other websites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.  

Your account is protected by a password for your privacy and security. You must prevent unauthorized access to your account and Personal Information by selecting and protecting your password appropriately and limiting access to your computer or device and browser by signing off after you have finished accessing your account. 

We endeavor to protect the privacy of your account and other Personal Information we hold in our records, but we cannot guarantee complete security. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, you acknowledge that: (a) there are security and privacy limitations inherent to the Internet which are beyond our control; and (b) security, integrity, and privacy of any and all information and data exchanged between you and us through this Site cannot be guaranteed.  

From time to time, HBHS may contact you via email for the purpose of providing announcements, alerts, confirmations, surveys, and/or other general communication.  

If you would like to stop receiving communications via email from HBHS, you may opt out of such communications by email support@hbhealthcaresafety.org.  

HBHS reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your account, by placing a prominent notice on our site, and/or by updating any privacy information on this page. Your continued use of the Site and/or Services available through this Site after such modifications will constitute your: (a) acknowledgment of the modified Privacy Policy; and (b) agreement to abide and be bound by that Policy.
